Bottled Up, A Memoir, is scheduled for release in early 2027 through She Writes Press.
In this compassionate yet honest memoir, I open up about the loss of my idyllic childhood after my parents are sent away to rehab for an addiction I didn’t know they had. I reconstruct the impenetrable fortress of lies I painstakingly built around myself for decades to “be okay” and appear “normal,” all while the stability of our family crumbled. Behind my fortress, a growing sense of shame festered that would manifest in countless harmful ways as I grew up. Ultimately, this is my story about recovery, forgiveness and acceptance as I learn to release the shame that kept me quiet for so long, and reclaim my sense of self.
Currently, I am documenting my writing process through essays, poems and snippets of my memoir on Substack. I invite you to walk with me as my story unfolds. Much of what you read will never be published in the book, so it’s a rare sneak peek at the words and ideation that usually only the author and editors get to see. More than that, I would be grateful for your thoughts, comments, insights and constructive feedback as I work to communicate my lived experience in the most authentic and transparent way possible.
